NEW LIFESTYLES IN UNIVERSITY
University is a place to study specific program deeper. Many people come to university to get more knowledge that they concern in and to become professional in the future. In university it is assured that there are many students and lecturers who come from different background, as a result there will be an interaction each other that gradually it will adopt novel trends. Not only are they caused by the interaction process, but the new trends also caused more by modern technology. Nowadays, the academicians tend to use modern technology as a new lifestyle in every activity such as laptop usage, internet usage, and mobile phone usage.
Seeing many academicians use laptop in their academic activity is not extraordinary thing because it has become lifestyle. Laptop is a portable computer with the flat screen that has small design and it is possible to bring everywhere. Because of their shape and style, it becomes popular so there are many students and lecturers in university use laptop. By using laptop, the lecturers can deliver the lesson easily by showing it in the LCD screen. Then gradually the students follow their lecturers to use laptop to do their homework and to connect to the internet. Moreover the students also use laptop to deliver their presentation in the class in the same way their lecturers do. They think that using laptop in presentation in the class more effective than reading the whole presentation without any slide presentation on the LCD screen.
Besides the academicians use laptop as a tool for some academic activities, they use it as a device to connect to the internet. By connecting to the internet, they can search everything they want, get the information in many sources, and communicate with other easily. Providing the easiness to access everything, the internet becomes alternative source for them and becomes apart of their activity.
The using of mobile phone also becomes the habit of the academician. Every moment in whole time that they have, they never ignore their mobile phone. This device makes the user can communicate easily with other by sending short message or just calling the number. In addition, the features of mobile phone right now are very complete such as internet, TV, radio, camera, wifi, mp3 and many others. So this complete mobile phone makes many academicians interesting to use it to connect and to interact with other in long distant area.
In conclusion, the lifestyle of academicians that still exists in university has been interfered by the technology. For instance, the using of laptop, the using of internet and the using of mobile phone have constructed their lifestyle.
